Autobots, transform and roll out!
Spiderman 3 was disappointing — too many villians packed into 2 hours of actions gives me an headache. Shrek 3 was only cute because of Donkey’s hybrid babies. Pirates 3 didn’t excite me as much as Pirates 2, but at least they stuck to the original “Pirates” thing they started off with Pirates 1.
Then Transformers is next in line in the blockbuster list — and it didn’t disappoint.
Put Michael Bay in charge of a movie and you know what’s coming: mega explosions. He’s like the official exploder in Hollywood (think: Armageddon). And couple that with Steven Spielberg as executive producer, the result is a stroke of genius. Transformers is easily the best action-packed movie to ever grace the big screen since Jurassic Park. And I’m not just saying.
There was a touching moment when injured Bumblebee crawled ahead and tried to pick up the All Spark and Sam spurred him on, ouch. :( The talk among the autobots was also cool if not touching, when Prime said he would sacrifice if there’s a need.
Words can’t describe the fight scenes so I’ll just leave you to go experience it for yourself.
It’s a pity that the theater that I watched this in didn’t have really big screens so I might just watch it again when I find out which cinema has the biggest screen in Singapore. And for those waiting for the DVDs to roll out, please do yourself a favor and watch it in the theaters as this movie is not meant for small screens, not even on plasma screen.
Finally, for the G1 fan boys, get over with it already. So what if Bumblebee is not a Volkswagen, and Megatron is ugly, at least Prime’s paint job looks pretty! I mean honestly, their characters are what matters since transformers can adapt to different bodies for different needs. And it’s been 20 years already…
Thank you Steven Spielberg for initialising this movie. You’re my hero! 10/10!
